Dr. Paul E. Long
Organization Development Consultant

Paul Long is a highly skilled and experienced trainer and consultant in the areas of human resource and organization development. For over twenty years he has facilitated individual and organizational growth and change through effective interventions in workplace human dynamics. In the varying roles of consultant, trainer, speaker, facilitator, coach and counselor, Paul helps others find a path to their desired future by effectively blending theory and application in a real world setting.


As an internal corporate consultant, Paul has been instrumental in the development of an integrated training and development process that merged the organization’s manpower planning, succession planning, job description based competencies and curriculum development. He has served as the curriculum manager and master trainer for a corporate Leadership Institute and lead the creation of a corporate Information Services University program to facilitate introduction of new information technologies.

Paul brings a philosophy of “competency-based conscious choice” to his work, which he defines as “...knowing what you know, knowing what you don’t know, and behaving consistent with that knowledge.” Using a strategic business planning approach, he can help organizations determine their desired future and put the processes in place to create their own destiny.

Now, more than ever before, individuals and organizations are being called upon to face new challenges while being overwhelmed with information and new expectations, but suffering from a lack of relevant guidance. The time and energy required to just survive in today’s work environment diverts energy and resources from the pursuit of critical goals and results.

Paul is certified in over 90 courses, including more than 50 master certifications. He is a frequent keynote presenter at conferences and symposiums as an energetic and effective speaker who gets the message delivered with a mixture of humor and hard reality.

Among a variety of academic credentials, Paul holds a B.S. in Physical Sciences, a M.S. in Organization Development and an Ed.D. in Human Resource Development. He is also a graduate of the Air Force Institute of Technology (Applied Electrical Engineering) the Eckerd College Leadership Development Program and the Vanderbilt University Owens School of Business. He has earned designation as a Certified Consultant by Certified Consultants International and is a candidate for certification under Tennessee Rule 31 General/ Civil Mediator.
